Conservation Districts are local units of state government, set up generally on a county-by-county basis. Districts were originally created to help handle the catastrophic soil erosion of the "Dust Bowl." Since then, Conservation Districts have diversified greatly, each tailoring programs to the natural resource needs in their particular county.  

The district is guided at the local level by a Board of Directors and at the state level by the State Conservation Commission.  The Morgan Conservation District is a member of the Utah Association of Conservation Districts, a nonprofit organization that supports, enhances, and promotes Utah’s conservation districts and their programs.  

Morgan Conservation District became Utah's seventh official district in 1938. The Conservation District is managed by a five person board of locally elected supervisors. Through partnerships among non-profit groups and public agencies, the district promotes a cooperative approach to natural resource issues.
